Sometimes it is like an identity crisis bar brawl fighting the psychotic cacophony in my aging electro artist head. While working on new C2 (PENTALOGY), control.org (ERADICATE), dj mindstalker (untitled) I had a dream to revive the tribe from the old days when the org crew would get togther and make beats and dj. Through the glory of the interwebs I am super chuffed to anounce our output from this latest detour and the first of a few 2017 releases from the org umbrella.

We’re getting the band back together… revive the tribe.
SP UNITED are an house and electro collective made up of the classic live crew of control.org. Formed in 1998, they only output a few white label CDrs, time has come to fix that…
Soul doesn’t come from a specific beat, an instrument, a riff or a tempo, or even words, it is from the heart. To this end SP UNITED create sounds they want to dance to with a nod to the classic and an utter disinterest towards popular formulaic production. REVIVE THE TRIBE EP is emotive and strong, tech infused yet soulful, raw and organic with industrial edges but undeniably house. With deep and long running backgrounds in house, techno, industrial and electro music SP unites to explore the sounds and shapes of electro, tribal, soulful, Euro and Afro without fear. Introspective and a little dark, steady and moving, funky and a little uplifting, UNITE and come along for the journey. SP rhymes with unity.
Just wanted to record how much I love and appreciate my mates worldwide supporting my dirty for life audio shennanigans, lumpy at best release schedule, detours, diversions, avoidance of social web etc. In the past day you’ve supported a tech house release that I never even told you about and via good old classic phone and email you guys have really stoked the proverbial fire already under my bum with encouragement and excitement for more org and C2. Shit is healthy and I love that there is still someone out there to share my sonic therapy with. Gonna go hard while I’m still going. Fuck yeah!
I was very much into the first wave of rave as a young producer and a budding dj in the late 80s but it was always a complimentary side piece to my love of the industrial electro, and freestyle, and house, and your mum. I never bothered with the synthetic drugs. As such I am gleefully unashamed of the time period and a festive mix like this makes me happy thinking of long drives with my lady person rocking sweet mix tapes. Multiple decades on, I’m greatful we can still do that. Time is a relentless bastard, stay vertical out there.
been real busy gardening. One of the greatest acts of rebellion you can possibly exercise is not making a corporate album about your disillusionment with corporate albums and how your life sucks cause you dropped your iphone and ran out of the good weed, but instead grow some food, then eat it. You’ll probably have to vlog it because you are so addicted to digital grandstanding, but so is everyone else.
Also, I accidentally stopped working on C2 PENTALOGY and made a new dj mindstalker EP of mid 120s bpm electro house and dark techno. needs production work and some samples but I expect to slide it quietly onto the bandcamp around March.
rest in pieces old “friend”. I actually really hated this rig, but it allowed for 10 distinct triggers and the pvc tubes worked great for loop trigger while the pd-8’s handled more drum like duties. It survive the belly of planes in nothing more than a duffle bag and over almost 4 years of sporadic gigs, installations and other abuse. It only needed one small wire resoldered in one of the tube triggers. It was treated with utter disdain. Switched from an old Alesis DM and Akai Mpx to just an Alesis sample rack, which is built a little wimpy, but really works great for me. Anywho, my point is, in general no one cares about shows, but I got some killer workouts.
The new trigger rig build is almost completely flat and will actually need a bit of a weighted plate to affix it to an xstand or something. working on the wiring harnesses here and there, no rush, like I said, no big demand for live dance industrial just douchebags with weak “drops” and shitty horn loops from a $20,000, $50,000, ???,000 table of gear they can ghost knob.
the roland pads were from a trade, the wood, pc, foam were all scavenged and customised, and a few dollars in piezo discs, 2 dollar shop bungees? fuck you steve aoki, fuck you. -xxxooo C2
As noted in the manifesto, this is a resource that primarily lives outside of the status based social web and does a damn fine job of informing listeners of new releases that are available for free or cc license but also very lovingly lists all proper direct band contacts and ways to donate if available. Touché! This is a prime example of outside the generel social media web (FB at least), sometimes touching the social web but transiting really high quality interested parties who not only stream C2 in particular but have a really good hit rate to also check out our wider catalogue and even donate.
Cheers to the person or persons behind this repository. Sure it is on a corporate blog platform, but it is much more open than the gatekept facebook feed, and in terms of presentation is open and honest about all the linking and share buttons in use as far as privacy is concerned. If moderately savvy, you don’t need to let any of them pwn your browser or life, just enjoy a very well curated list of dark music available for free or donation. Bonus, you can brush up on your German.
really really really my favourite project that no one has really heard of unless you were in a dark club in scandania in 90s and caught me sneaking in a dj or live pa set. Some days I sit down and make some new dj mindstalker but never really publish it. I think I’ll change that soon.
The one time I did press some white labels for this EP takes me back to a time walking down the european high streets with the sounds of Faithless enticing you to buy fabulous overpriced footwear…
you must be this OMG KICK ASS YUSS FUCK YEAH to pass…
If you don’t know Aesthetische or Mari Kattman for the love of pete sort that out! As usual, clinical and fucking deadly. I will argue robustly this is sonically more aggressive than any of the laptop fashion hellectro garble garble masachistic clown acts and it has angelic vocals. Come at me.
I legit have not played a guitar in at least 28 years. Until, the other day I picked up the acoustic that has sat in the lounge for a few years for decoration? and just started clunkily chunking out 80s alt jams. Don’t get me wrong, I still hate strings, and all this acoustic stringed noise is making me a might uncomfy. Stock up on ass wipe and tinned beans, the end is in fact nigh!
To counter these horrible string sounds, C2 PENTALOGY is mapping out quite awsome but I cannot share yet and I’ll post seperate about my semi-annual musical identity crisis. (too many “synths” for C2, too much violence for org, what’s a brother to do?)
ah the angst and confrontation of unrequited love or the raw pain of having been stabbed in the back…well not really. As it turns out, while partying like it was 1999, because it literally was, I had a hell of a time with a sink disposal at my flat. It was spitting shit up everywhere and making an unholy racket and evaded repair thrice! So there was little left to do but to firstly sample that bitch for some C2 live sets, and B. write retribution.
retribution appears on the album manipulate originally released as a real life physical compact disc in 2001 by DSBP
I’m not going to lie to you, I’m a Mandy Moore fan and I ain’t even mad she wasted 7 years with some hipster, but that is over and hopefully I got a shot, if not, when I grow up I’m definitely marrying one of the Minogue sisters. My point is, Signals – Grace Under Pressure – Power Windows – Hold Your Fire have always been my holy quartet and I’ve never cared what anyone says. I was brought up in the 70s drumming to Rush and I still love it to this day, and still drum along like a kid. But that specific chunk in the 80s especially lit me up as an artist and an activist. I didn’t give a second thought in swapping Hold Your Fire and Nitzer Ebb That Total Age cassettes in and out of my deck cause fuck yeah! I ain’t even mad they waited 30 years to perform “Losing It” live cause damn check out the violin solos on some of the 2015 footage! There are a few songs in my library I often skip else I end up a sobbing mess and that was one, but recently I’ve been owning it. I get it, also your violin must kick this much ass to proceed. I miss my dad something fierce, he always supported any strange and wonderful genre I wanted to dip my toe in. He’d always find a way to not minimise me if I heard something interesting even in the most mundane or even some of the most challenging listens. He hustled to get the inquistive kid still in intermediate school a pro synth and never ever yelled at me for rewiring shit or drumming at the dinner table. Hell if I could get him on the phone he’d prolly say that Mandy is looking damn fine and not give me any shit at all for blasting her masterpiece So Real in the car in 2016.
